The VISION behind Pilot Light…

It starts with a story.

And every Adventist school has one. Some are triumphant and inspiring, others troubling and exhausting. But all have real implications and lessons we take away.

What would happen if these stories were shared among the solution-oriented leaders of Adventist schools? If people honestly and fearlessly discussed the challenges facing Adventist schools?

questionsToday’s Adventist schools are up against some tough questions. While many of us are asking, “How can we market our schools in the 21st century?” The next generation of parents is asking if 21st-century Adventists even need Adventist schools. No doubt, today’s academies are facing overwhelming questions on how to remain viable during one of the most trying economic times since Adventist education first took off in the 1950s.

We at the Alumni Awards Foundation are committed to being part of the proactive change coming to Adventist education. Our goal is to create an environment where innovative ideas can be exchanged and stories shared. An environment where we tackle tough questions, and catch a glimpse of revolutionary answers. Each month on Pilot Light, we feature new stories about a different issue in Adventist schools. During each episode, we bring together experts, case studies, fresh ideas being tried, and lessons being learned by leaders of Adventist schools.

But this podcast is meant to be just the beginning. The real discussion happens with YOU–when you share your story, pose your questions, send your feedback, and lend your ideas.

Ultimately, it’s up to you to ignite the conversation that will bring about a new era of thriving Adventist schools.
